Difference between dust and dust mites?

Is an allergy to dust mites the same as being allergic to dust?

Answers:
No. Dust mites are microscopic organisms that are one of many components of house dust.
However, they are perhaps the most important component of dust and are the “allergens” in house dust that we are most interested in controlling. Allergy testing is available for specific dust mite allergens, and the test results can be very beneficial in determining an appropriate management strategy. If one is tested for a general “house dust” mixture, the results are not as specific and not as helpful in designing treatment options.
